The IC Theater Group was created in 2003 as a means to introduce Immaculate Conception students to the rich heritage of the American Musical Theater.  Students are given the opportunity to participate in the full production process of staging a musical and experiencing the magic of live theater.  From auditions, to the creative rehearsal process, to stage management, to opening night applause, students are allowed to develop their individual skills and talents.  The goal of each production is to be a rich learning experience for each student.  No matter what role a student receives, being involved in the play process is an invaluable experience that instills self confidence, discipline, character, cooperation and self-esteem in each student, as well as, creating many fun memories that will last a lifetime.

Auditions for each production are open to all students in grades fourth through eighth.  Stage crew assignments are open to students in the grades sixth through eighth.  In the past, cast and crew sizes have ranged from 60 to over 100 students, making the spring musical the largest extra-curricular school activity participated in by students at Immaculate Conception.

Students who receive a role in the play must be committed to the play and attend all scheduled rehearsals.  The time commitment for each play is about 12 weeks.  Rehearsals are usually scheduled Tuesday through Friday, 2:30 – 5:00pm.  There are a few Saturday rehearsals in the schedule.   This is a serious commitment just like any other extra-curricular commitment.

Parent involvement plays a big part in the success of each production.  Parents are asked to volunteer and help with set construction, painting, and providing a costume for their own child in the show.
