Text Box:  RELIGION:  The children will  talk about and review that Mary,  the Mother of Jesus, took care of him like our Mothers do and that she is also our Mother in Heaven.  They will learn that the farmers help God to take care of the land and learn how to grow fruits and vegetables and animals on the land so that people have good food to eat.
LITERACY:  In order to develop good listening skills and learn about mothers, the children will hear the story, Are You My Mother?   They will also listen to the story, I Went to the Farm ,  A Visit To The Farm, and Listen To The Animals to learn about what they might see, hear, smell, taste, or feel on a farm.
CRAFTS/FINE MOTOR SKILLS:  Developing fine motor skills and following directions while making a craft prepares the children for reading and writing. The children will color and match animal babies to their mother. They will paint a barn with a door that opens to show a silly cow dancing a jig and make a booklet of animals and the sounds that they make.
MATH:   The children will count the number of babies that each animal mother had in the story of the farm.  They will match baby animals to their mothers.  They will count the five parts of their body that help them to enjoy the world around them.
SCIENCE:  The children will learn about how  animal mothers have special ways to care for their babies and which animals look like their mothers when they are born. They will talk about the five parts of their body that would help them to enjoy what they would find on a farm. (using the 5 senses)
GROSS MOTOR SKILLS:   The children will pretend to be different animal babies or farm animals jump, run, gallop, and work etc.  They will play on the playground if the weather cooperates.  
SOCIAL STUDIES   The children will act out ways that mothers care for their young.  They will also learn about the farmer and all the jobs that he has to do to keep a farm running.
MUSIC and MOVEMENT:  The children will sing songs and act out “The Farmer in the Dell”.

ABOUT ME:  I grew up in Greensburg, PA and received a BA in Elem. ED from Seton Hill College there. I have been blessed to teach for 35 years, with 26 of the happiest here at Immaculate Conception School.  We were an Air Force family  for 20 years so I have taught in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and  New Jersey, and been blessed with 5 beautiful children, and  8 wonderful grandchildren.  “God is a Good God” and “God is an Awesome God”  have been my two  favorite songs to sing with my classes—because HE IS!
